The Clay Room and Corona Virus Safety

We are taking the safety of our staff and our customers very seriously!
Everyone must wear a mask while in the clay room and classes offer seating with a 4-6 person max allowing us to spread everyone out sufficiently. We are sanitizing all of our class room tools at the end of every class and cleaning regularly.
We want this to be a fun and relaxing time, and being safe is what makes that possible.

6 Week Pottery Wheel Classes

Students will learn the basics and beyond of throwing on the pottery wheel. We cover a wide range of progressive skills and with small class sizes (see FAQs), we are able to work with each student's individual growth goals.

Included with class:

  • Instruction with professional teachers who focus on your individual goals.
  • Weekly classes for 6 weeks (2.5 hours each)
  • Use of studio tools and equipment.
  • Up to 25 lbs. of earthenware clay for beginners or stoneware for intermediate to advanced students.
  • 6 hours of open studio time to practice during the course of the class. (You can use the Acuity Scheduling App from your confirmation email, or the link below)
  • $75 firing credit (this is the equivalent of 12- 15 pcs for a beginner), with 10% off studio firing fees for additional firing.
  • Dedicated storage space for the duration of the class.

During this time we are being very cautious in the pottery room and limiting our classes to 5-6 students, depending on the student groups. We have two classrooms set up to ensure adequate social space.  We can safely space out 5 individuals, or up to 3 groups of 2 for household/family groups.

Beginners and Intermediate students will benefit from this class. At this time, we are offering classes for adults and young adult ages 15 and over.

If you have a child under the age of 14 that you would like a series of lessons for, please email us at info@theclaydate.com. If we can get 4 kids together that would like to create a class, we would be delighted to offer a kids class.

  • Dress casually and anticipate getting messy. The clay we use washes out of clothing. Use of all tools and equipment needed are provided, but we do not provide towels. Please bring one with you.
  • Practice times must be booked through our online system. To book times, click HERE.
  • We will fire some of the pieces during the class session and then again after the last class.
  • Classes are in a series and all classes must be completed within the series. - No refunds or credits for missed classes (Covid-19 exceptions do apply)

Cancellations can be made through the confirmation email sent when the class was booked. Each seat must be cancelled separately. The 50% class deposit can be refunded in the form of a studio gift card with a minimum of seven days notice. For classes that have been paid in full online, the other 50% will be returned in the form of payment received. Cancellations with less than seven days notice will forfeit the 50% deposit unless a student is found to take the cancelled seat, at which time we will issue a gift certificate for the deposit amount.

Cancellations due to Covid-19:  If we are required to suspend classes due to a government order, we will make sure to provide a continuation of the class at a future date with an extra class added as a refresher. If a student has to leave class due to an exposure, we will issue a credit for the remaining classes and will be offering a series of make-up classes in the future when Covid-19 is no longer a threat. We will work with individuals on a case by case basis, but no classes will ever be forfeit due to Covid-19.
