Party FAQs

Kid's Party Pricing

1.5 hour party: $35 party fee + projects = $150 minimum subtotal

2 hour party: $50 party fee + projects = $200 minimum subtotal

Your Deposit: To reserve your party date and time, we require a non-refundable deposit of $35. This deposit is deducted from your final bill on the day of your party.

Party Fee: We charge $25/hour to rent the party room with a dedicated staff member for most parties. The exception is the Pottery Wheel Party. This party has a $30/hour party fee.

Guest's Art Projects: Each participating artist's project will have a cost associated with it. Every creative activity has a different price range. Please see each activities details to learn more about their pricing.

This sample receipt shows a 1.5 hour party with 12 guests and a budget of $14/participant. Guests are allowed to choose items within the host's predetermined budget. The minimum is based on the subtotal.

By requiring a party minimum total rather than charging a set amount for "up to" a certain number of guests, you can have fewer artists but allow each to do a larger project. We never want you to pay for something you are not getting. 

Kid's Party Terms and Conditions
  1. When you pay a deposit for your party, you affirm that you have read, fully understand and agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
  2. A $35 non-refundable deposit is required to hold all reservations. The deposit is applied toward the total due and deducted from the total on the day of the party. Reservations will not be made without a deposit.
  3. Deposits are non-refundable, but are transferable to another event within 60 days with a minimum of 3 hours notice.
  4. Party guests must remain in the Party Room at all times.
  5. Party item selections may change depending on availability and is at the sole discretion of The Clay Date. No one item is guaranteed.
  6. Due to capacity limitations in the Party Room and in order to ensure a successful party, a maximum of 4 non-participating guest are allowed in the party room.
  7. Food and drinks are welcome. we have white paper plates, forks and napkins, a knife and a lighter that you are welcome to use during your party!
  8. Parties should begin and end on time. Some creative activities require the entire length of scheduled time and will not be possible if the party begins late.
  9. Hosts and guests are discouraged from arriving more than 15 minutes prior to the party start time. Arrivals prior to this may not have access to the room yet and will not have staff available.
  10. Party hosts and guests must vacate the Party Room at the scheduled end time of the party, unless agreed upon in advance by the studio staff. Parties are scheduled at regular intervals and the staff requires time to clean and prepare for the following party. If there is not a party following, then the party may be able to stay, but is responsible for additional time fees and the revised party minimum.
  11. All pieces will be packaged and available for pick up within 7-14 days depending on the media used during the party. Canvas, candles, acrylic pottery painting, and mosaics all go home the day of the party. Glazed pottery painting and glass fusion are available in 7 days and clay is available in 14 days.
  12. The Clay Date is not responsible for items left over 60 days from the scheduled pick up date. Refunds and/or store credits will not be provided for pottery left over 60 days and deemed abandoned.
  13. If a party parent would like to allow guests to pick up their own pieces, we can hold the pieces for 45 days, at which point, the host has 15 days to come pick up all remaining pieces.
  14. For the enjoyment of all the guest at The Clay Date, we do not allow glitter, noisemakers, pinatas or silly string in the studio. If you are providing goodie bags for your guests, please distribute as they are leaving.
  15. We do allow balloons and other decorations to be set up in the party room, however, we ask that balloons be left tied until the end of the party. If a balloon is lost to the ceiling and the string is unreachable while standing on the floor, we have a strict policy against attempting to retrieve it.
  16. If your party host does an excellent job, tips are acceptable and appreciated. 
Why are Kid's Parties Drop-off Preferred?
  • Typically the adults at your party will enjoy visiting while the kids are participating in the party activity. This makes the party fun for your young and adult guests. However, the difficulty comes when the adults start to talk louder, to be heard over the kids. The kids then get a little louder to be heard among themselves and the party host has to shout in order to communicate with the kids. It is awkward and not fun for the party host to have to shush the adults or yell for the kids to hear! 🙁
  • Also, we can not allow parents to congregate in the hallway outside of the party room. This blocks access to the emergency exits and impedes traffic to the washing sink, bathrooms, and kiln room.
  • There are exceptions to the drop off rule:
    • If the party does not have more than 8 participants and approx. 8 adults, we can fit everyone in the room without it getting excessively loud.
    • The party host can choose to reserve a space (a set of tables) in our cafe for the adult guests to gather and enjoy conversation.
    • If the party is for very young children who need their parents present, we recommend keeping the attendance under 12 guests or suggest considering our private before/after hours party. 

So that means that parents need to find somewhere to go or something to do while their child is in a party. Here are some of our suggestions.

  • Your reserved parent's space in the cafe, we guarantee comfortable seating for the parents to visit and be near their children while waiting. 
  • If the seating is not needed in the cafe, it can be utilized without a reserved parent space, however we prioritize seating for our patrons and will ask parents to relinquish their seat should there be a need.
  • Our studio is open to the public, parents and siblings are welcome to create as customers.
  • The plaza is has very nice covered walkways so parents are welcome to walk around. There are several store that they can browse. There are lovely restaurants in the area.
Party Add-on Options

These are optional additions to your party total:

Memory Plate: A fingerprint plate with every guest's fingerprint and name - starting at $20 for up to 12 prints. 

Parent Space: Reserved seating for up to 10 people in the cafe - $25, seating for up to 20 people - $45.

Ice Cream: Select 3 flavors for your guests to choose from and we will serve each guest a 2 ounce scoop. - $1.50/scoop

Tips: We never require a tip for your party host, however if you receive excellent service, it can make your host's day! 

Adult Workshop Times & Pricing

Timing: We can book an Adult Workshop during any of the time slots available through the Kids Party "Book Now" button. These slots are Friday at 4:30, Saturday at 10:30, 1:30 and 4:00, and Sunday at 12:30 and 4:00. Some parties can not be booked at certain times such as a 2.5 hour adult canvas can only be booked during the 12:30 time slot on Sundays using this calendar. 

The Adult Workshop "Book Now" button offers a calendar with additional time slots that are reserved for longer events. 

Pricing: Instructor fee + Projects

All Parties and Gatherings have a $200 minimum total when adding the instruction fee and projects together. 

We charge an instructor's fee based on the type of creative activity that your group is doing and the number of hours that each activity usually takes with instruction. Our instructor fee is $25/hour. The following list is the amount of time we charge for instruction based on the activity.

Canvas Instruction: 2.5 hours (a 16 x 20 canvas - $22 each)

Pottery Painting: 1.5 - 2 hours (based on the design) (pottery: $24 - $60) 

Glass Fusion: 1.5 - 2 hours (depending on project) ($21 - $56)

Board Art: 2 hours (details coming soon)

Candles: 1 - 1.5 hours (depends on # of participants) ($12 - $24)

Hand-building with Clay: 2 hours ($24 each for most projects)

Pottery Wheel: ($30/hour) time dependent on the number of guests  ($20 - $ 28 each)

If you would like to rent the room for additional time, that can be arranged at a discounted room rental rate of $15/hour. We can divide these fees up between all the party guests if everyone is paying individually, or we can charge it to one paying party.  The more people who are in your group, the more you can divide up the cost. 

Pricing examples: A Canvas Party for 7. Each participant pays $22 for their 16 x 20 canvas, and there is a $62.50 instructors fee ($25/hour for 2.5 hours) for the group. This party would have $132 in project cost and $62.50 in instructor's fee. We can break up the instruction fee into 7 payments of  $8.93 and add it to the $22 for each person or one person can pay the balance of $62.50 plus their canvas.  

With a Canvas Party for 10, the instructor fee would then be $6.25 for each person. 

Other places charge much more for the projects to cover the cost of staffing the event, with a high minimum number of participants. By charging the instruction fee separately with a party minimum, we give you the freedom to have a group of any size.

  6. Adult parties are BYOB, food and drinks are welcome! We ask that everyone drinking alcohol be 21 and reserve the right to express reservation about driving should we believe someone is intoxicated.
  7. Parties should begin and end on time. Some creative activities require the entire length of scheduled time and will not be possible if the party begins late.
  8. Hosts and guests are discouraged from arriving more than 30 minutes prior to the party start time. Arrivals prior to this may not have access to the room yet and will not have staff available.
  9. Party hosts and guests must vacate the Party Room at the scheduled end time of the party, unless agreed upon in advance by the studio staff. 
  10. All pieces will be packaged and available for pick up within 7-14 days depending on the media used during the party. Canvas, candles, acrylic pottery painting, and mosaics all go home the day of the party. Glazed pottery painting and glass fusion are available in 7 days and clay is available in 14 days.

Party Room Rental

The Party Room Rental is a good option for groups of 8 or more that intend to participate in any of our walk-in activities. The Party Room can be rented for only $20/hour. Friday night and Saturday night rentals are subject to our $150 party minimum, but rental Tuesday - Friday during the day do not have any minimums. The minimum is calculate as rental fee + projects.

Room Rentals do not have a dedicated staff person although there would be staff to offer assistance and get everyone started. This staff person would also be working with our main studio floor.

Non-Profit Groups

We waive the Room Rental and instruction fees for the following non-profit groups, but still require a booking deposit to hold the spot:

  • Church Groups
  • Schools and Summer Camps
  • Scouts
  • Youth Organizations

We do not guarantee use of the party room for these groups depending on studio activity and expected number of participants. We do enforce the $150 minimum for any groups using the party room on Saturdays and Sundays.

 

Private Studio Rental, Before and After Hours

We offer the studio for before and after hour events on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sundays. 

These private events include...

  • Your choice of creative activity. 
  • Private use of the main studio area (seats up to 75 people)
  • And dedicated staff.
  • Your choice of music (nothing explicit)
  • BYOB and Food Welcome

We recommend the Sunday morning party for parents who would like to have large parties for their children who are turning 4 and under when it is beneficial for the parents to stay with their kids. This time slot is for 1.5 hours.

Our after hour parties can range in length from 1.5 hours to 3 hours. It is a great way to host a Bridal Shower, Baby Shower or any kind of large group celebration.

This rental costs $50/hour with a $300 party minimum for up to 2 hours and $350 minimum for 3 hours.

These parties must be booked at least 10 days prior to event for staffing purposes. A $50 deposit is due at the time of reservation. The deposit is non-refundable, but can be transferred to another event booking with a minimum of 24 hours notice.
